Just like humans, hummingbirds have certain favorite spots to hang out—the avian equivalent of a preferred corner booth at a local diner. Fortunately, there is a tree in my backyard that fits the bill perfectly for my annual visitors. When they strike an unusual pose, such as this Black-chinned male (Archilochus alexandri), it makes for a diverting subject that borders on the sculptural.
